Where is the CBD?
The elves came in this morning, arguing and bickering about where exactly the Melbourne CBD boundaries fell. Some thought the Melbourne Museum fell within the boundaries, some were arguing for the Melbourne Cricket Ground, and Dot was adamant that State Parliament was outside the boundaries.
So to pacify her (and to give everyone a fair chance), here is the map of where we consider the boundaries of the Melbourne CBD to lie.
The Cricket Ground is past the boundary, as is State Parliament and the Museum, but Rod Laver arena and AAMI Park are both part of the CBD. (AAMI Park is the picture for our header). Spencer Street Station is just outside, but the edge of Albert Park is.
Dot sat down with the elves and they think they know where they’re hiding the gift for next week. We hope this helps you too.

This is crazy talk!
I work at one of the many government offices just behind Parliament House, a 2 minute walk from Parliament city loop station (CITY loop!) and it’s not in the CBD?
And yet St Kilda Junction/Queens Road in in? That’s 20 minutes from Flinders Street station by tram!
Tell the elves to stop eating the red mushrooms with the white polka-dots!
There were twenty different definitions of the CBD, and we had to choose 1. If we went by what the Lord Mayor was saying, we’d have to include St Kilda itself!
The governmental offices, and the big Cathedral, count (apparently) as East Melbourne.
I suppose it’s more important that we all know where the playground fence is rather than how big the playground is! 😉
